On 20th October and 17th November, Berkshire Squash took the first exciting steps towards establishing the Berkshire Squash Academy. These sessions provided an invaluable opportunity for advanced junior squash players to come together, train as a group, and benefit from expert coaching by former professional player Steve Meads and a team of supportive Berkshire Squash coaches.
The Academy’s long-term goal is to nurture players’ skills, building a Junior Squad capable of representing Berkshire at county level. The journey begins with friendly inter-county matches and progresses to competitive tournaments organised by England Squash.
These sessions brought together players, parents, and coaches to assess player numbers and standards while creating a collaborative and supportive environment. Under Steve’s guidance, players worked on essential routines, participated in mixed games, and rotated through courts and groups, enhancing their playing experience and building camaraderie.
It was a fun and rewarding experience for all, showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of these young players. We are excited to see their development over time as they continue to grow within the sport.
Upcoming Sessions
The next Academy session is scheduled for 15th December, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, and we are eager to welcome back as many players as possible. If you were unable to attend the previous sessions, do not worry—new players are welcome to join! Details about the New Year schedule will follow shortly.
